The Fed raised the key rate by 50 points

On May 4, the planned two-day meeting of the US Federal Reserve began. As a result, officials raised the key rate by 50 basis points. The US key rate was raised to 0.75%.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said the Fed is not actively considering a 0.75% rate hike. The Fed plans to raise rates by 0.5% in the next 2 meetings. Further increase will be carried out at the level of 0.25%.

The Fed has decided to begin cutting the Fed’s balance sheet on June 1, 2022.
