The European Parliament opposed the anonymity of crypto

The European Parliament will vote on tough new rules for identifying cryptocurrency transactions in April.

The European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and the Committee on Civil Liberties (LIBE) voted for the identification of crypto operations. The provision on the transparency of crypto transactions was accepted by a 93-14 margin. Cryptocurrencies want to be tracked just like fiat money transfers.

The new EU rules should remove all minimum thresholds and exemptions. This means that any crypto transfer will need to be tracked regardless of its amount.
