As part of a continuation of the global trend of cryptocurrency adoption, employees of the baseball team New York Yankees are now able to receive a piece of their salaries into Bitcoin. The owners of the team have entered a partnership with the company NYDIG in order to make this possible.
The service that NYDIG provides, that the Yankees will utilize, is named the Bitcoin Savings Plan. When converting fiat currency into Bitcoin through this plan, customers are not required to pay any transaction fees whatsoever.
According to NYDIG, 36% of all employees younger than 30 are interested in converting part of their salaries into Bitcoin. And, around 33% of employees under 30 would choose an employer which offered this service over an employer which doesn’t, if the jobs were otherwise identical.
This is not the first time that renowned sports players are using NYDIG’s Bitcoin Savings Plan, as the former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is already a customer.
