FIFA Announces 2022 World Cup NFT Platform

In anticipation of the 2022 World Cup, happening in November, FIFA has announced a platform for selling World Cup-themed NFTs to soccer fans. Named FIFA+ Collect, the platform will offer NFTs featuring memorable moments in the tournament throughout soccer history.

FIFA+ Collect runs on the Algorand blockchain. Algorand is a proof-of-stake blockchain and an official partner of the World Cup.

While more precise details on World Cup NFTs are yet to be released, we will learn more soon enough, as the NFT platform is set to be launched later this month. FIFA’s representative has likened the platform to selling stickers or merchandise. This is yet another example of NFTs serving to boost visibility and additionally fill the wallets of popular brands.
