Polygon has announced that it will be collaborating with the Ocean Conservation, Exploration and Education Foundation (OCEEF). The Ethereum layer-2 network will provide the tech that will bring OCEEF’s underwater research into Web3 space.
Namely, participants will be able to take a metaverse tour of OCEEF’s cutting-edge research vessel, RV Odyssey, as well as get a first-hand experience of the actual research missions through Web3 tools. They will also have a say in deciding Odyssey’s future itinerary. In addition, students will be able to join the missions by purchasing NFTs, with the profits going toward research funding.
In April, Polygon started its green initiative and has since donated $20 million to organizations to preserve the climate. The network has since become carbon-neutral and has eliminated more gases than it had created, thus qualifying it for this partnership with OCEEF.
