All crypto coins that are not Bitcoin, or in other words present the alternative to the largest crypto, fall under the umbrella term, ‘altcoins’. You can trade with Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero and many, many other coins – up to 1400 altcoins exist in the market.
Still, despite all of them sharing the altcoin moniker, there are many differences between various altcoins. These can be technical, such as the transaction speed and fees or mining characteristics, or the purpose of the coin may be specific. For example, there are utility tokens that give the holders rights connected to that crypto’s functionality, there are many DeFi tokens built on the Ethereum network, and many other tokens are simply used for trading. Therefore, research of the various altcoins is a must, but that is what we’re here to help with!
